‘Marc by Sofia’ Review: Sofia Coppola’s First Documentary Isn’t Really About Marc Jacobs.It’s satisfying to see the painting finished, the house built, or the book complete, but it’s the process that makes these stories truly compelling. This appears to compel Sofia Coppola’s first documentary, “Marc by Sofia.” The film ostensibly follows fashion designer and icon Marc Jacobs as he readies his his spring 2024 show (both the collection and its eye-popping runway event), but it’s far more concerned with the act of creating itself.

Marc Jacobs wears terrific pajamas, as you might expect: comfortably loose but crisply shaped, in a sort of metallic jacquard more typically seen on expensive upholstery, with creases that suggest they’re either box-fresh or newly ironed, but not heavily slept in.to filmed conversation between two longtime friends. “Marc by Sofia” isn’t particularly penetrating or eye-opening on Jacobs as an artist, businessman or human being, but it is a pleasant and casually glamorous hang.
