Shoplifters
2018movie

Overall, Shoplifters is another sterling example in showing the hopeful living in hopelessness, thanks to the humanistic view of its three-dimensional characters, the assured interweaving of heartfelt drama/punchy themes/character groundwork and a top-notch cast working at the top of their game. Definitely one of Koreeda’s best and in the year of 2018. Five stars (out of five).
Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Shoplifters” is one of those rare cinematic gems that ventures deep into the human spirit, exploring the essence of family bonds and the paths we take to find them. You know, it’s funny how life sometimes doesn’t fit into the neat little boxes we’ve been handed. “Shoplifters” throws a spotlight on this reality, inviting us to question the conventional norms that dictate who we call family. as we are introduced to a group of people who have decided to come together not by blood, but by a shared sense of survival, belonging, and compassion.
