To this day, the world has never received a fully satisfactory answer regarding the terrible tragedy of Pan Am Flight 103, which exploded over the Scottish town of Lockerbie on the evening of December 21, 1988, killing 270 innocent people.Peacock's new limited series, Lockerbie: A Search for Truth (all five episodes are now streaming right here), aims to shed some light on the frustrating situation by exploring the events and evidence through the eyes of Dr. Jim Swire (portrayed in the series by Oscar-winner Colin Firth), a British physician who made it his life's mission.
The Peacock series makes for riveting viewing. Throughout its episodes, viewers keep asking themselves “Who was responsible for the Pam Am bombing?”The TV series, however, is less sure than Swire’s book is about a cover-up by the British government and its U.S. ally. It leaves open the possibility of agreeing with words uttered near the end of the last episode (the fifth) by Jim’s wife, Jane: “Sometimes I think we're no closer to the truth now than we were then.
