It's not exactly *ahem* subtle in the book, but in the show, it's just thrown in your face with zero insight into the character to set her up.

Finally finished the Netflix Seven Dials and I hate it (a rant) - Reddit

She brings up Seven Dials and shows him the letter Gerry wrote. Battle reveals that Seven Dials is also the name of a club. He advises her to stay away from the investigation but it doesn’t seem to deter her.There’s also the general progress-ification of the story. There is no way that Agatha Christie had a black man talk about white Europeans making Africans fight one another. On one hand, it’s commendable but on the other, why would this person then go on to make an indestructible metal? His argument that it renders war useless is weak and unconvincing.
