The Magicians is one of my favorite shows of all time because of its macabre and morbid storytelling. The story touches on heavy, heavy topics like SA, SH, ab*se, slavery, and so much more. (Please check the trigger list on DoesTheDogDie.com before watching this series.) The characters are deeply flawed but relatable. Fillory is incredibly beautiful despite being a messed up place. Overall, it's the perfect dark fantasy TV show.
The show’s mature themes, including mental health, addiction, trauma, and the consequences of power, were also highlighted as significant strengths. The narrative consistently surprised viewers by deviating significantly from its source material, making the series unpredictable and keeping even book readers on their toes.
