With Disclosure Day , it looks as though the filmmaker will consider the global ramifications of such a world-shaking moment. Not that it's overly surprising that Spielberg is returning to a staple interest from his earlier film career. In the wake of new reports on UFO sightings (now technically known as UAPs, or Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) and high-profile hearings as to the nature of flying saucers, the 2020s have brought with them renewed interest in what might be in the skies.
Stephen Spielberg is no stranger to aliens. Between 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestial and 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the famous director played a large role in shaping how UFOs and our little alien visitors appear in movies for the last half-century, and his upcoming film, Disclosure Day, looks set to continue that trend when it launches on 11 June, 2026.
